Therapy In Men: Is It Different?
Yes, it’s true, everyone has regrets.

Let’s talk about it
If a man knows more than others, he becomes lonely.
—C. G. Jung
What A Man Wants
Yes, we know that gender differences are not universal and that men are as complex and diverse of a bunch as women. However, in our practice, we have noticed some pretty significant differences in what men and women hope to get out of therapy. And while these are averages, and may not apply to everyone – it’s often the case
that men prefer:
- more solutions and less rehashing
- concrete and actionable steps
and men need:
- reassurance too!
- not to go through something alone (like everyone!)
How Therapists Help Men
Even though we are trained as experts in our field, we know that there are no universal solutions, so we won’t waste time pushing things down your throat that don’t resonate with what you want your life to be like. We understand that some thoughts are dark, sometimes life doesn’t play fair, there are some things you can’t unknow or unsee, and that the impulses that you have don’t necessarily make you a bad person. We get that it’s not all rainbows and thoughts of love and peace, but that doesn’t mean that you aren’t striving for a more successful and harmonious existence.
Come As You Are
You never have to put on a show for us or pretend to be perfect. This may come as a surprise to you, but most of the people we treat aren’t perfect (except, of course, for our clientele with narcissistic personality disorder, who are welcome here too). We start where you are, but don’t let you stay there.
If you are looking for a therapist who:
- is an action-oriented and solution-focused therapist
- is naturally extremely supportive
- understands your success and ambitions and is used to working with high achievers
- is, most of all, a real person you can talk to
